Meet our 2024 Emerging Entrepreneur in Residence:

Tommy Hopp is the Owner and Co-Founder (with partner Brenton Giliam) of FWD Construction, a custom deck building business launched in early 2019 and based in Anchorage, Alaska. Before starting the business, Tommy’s journey took him through Division 1 football and multiple colleges, where he learned the importance of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. These experiences shaped his approach to business, especially as he transitioned into focusing on sales and building a strong brand in a competitive industry. Tommy and Brenton are passionate about fostering a team of innovative, young builders at FWD Construction. This team is crucial in pushing the limits of what’s possible in deck construction, constantly exploring new techniques and ideas.

In his keynote talk, Tommy will explore the importance of identifying a niche and forming strategic partnerships, developing skills, taking action and delivering excellence, overcoming challenges, and learning from failures to ensure long-term business success.
