Finalists named for dean of College of Natural Sciences
The search committee for the dean position at South Dakota State University’s College of Natural Sciences has named three finalists, who will be on campus over the next two weeks.

The Mellon Foundation has awarded South Dakota State University a grant to help ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ provide a pathway to higher education for previously incarcerated individuals looking for a better future. South Dakota State University recently paid tribute to the university’s newest endowment holders. The third annual University Leadership Honors investiture ceremony — honoring six holders of endowed positions across three different colleges and ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ Athletics — was held Sept. 19 in Founders Recital Hall in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.
³ÉÈËÊÓƵ shatters enrollment records, climbs to more than 12,000 students
A record first-year class and record retention moved enrollment at South Dakota State University to 12,065 students for the fall 2024 semester, the highest enrollment at ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ since 2018. Enrollment figures were released earlier today by the South Dakota Board of Regents.
³ÉÈËÊÓƵ to offer A.S. in agricultural science at Capital City Campus
The College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences at South Dakota State University will begin offering an Associate of Science degree in agricultural science through the Capital City Campus in Pierre this fall.

Earnest selected as dean of ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences
David C. Earnest, the Odeen-Swanson Distinguished Professor and chair of the Department of Political Science at the University of South Dakota, has been named dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at South Dakota State University. Earnest was selected following a national search and will begin working on the ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ campus July 8.
