Four individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to South Dakota and beyond will receive honorary doctorates from South Dakota State University and the South Dakota Board of Regents at the university’s 138th commencement May 4 at the Dacotah Bank Center in Brookings.
Mellon Foundation to fund new ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ program for post-carceral students
The Mellon Foundation has awarded South Dakota State University a grant to help ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ provide a pathway to higher education for previously incarcerated individuals looking for a better future. ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ’s Post-Carceral Educational Opportunity Program will be funded by Mellon’s Higher Education in Prison Program with a three-year, $150,000 grant and led by Victor Taylor, ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ vice provost for graduate education and extended studies.

In an effort to support health sciences and future workforce building, Avera has made a generous gift to the South Dakota State University Foundation of its property at 33rd Street and Minnesota Avenue, expanding ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ’s presence in Sioux Falls and providing a permanent home for its Sioux Falls-based programs in nursing and pharmacy at the ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ Metro Center.
