"Call 'Em In"

To try to bring in the people working in the field away from the house could be a chore, and time consuming, while trying to keep dinner warm and ready to eat. This week’s What’s New Wednesday celebrates the time-saving dinner bell. This particular dinner bell, made with two horseshoes welded together with a clapper, had many different uses. Information provided relays that it was used to call in men from the fields, call the cattle in from the field and an alarm system. By using what materials were available, a dinner bell was made to “Call ‘em In.â€
