This American Flag adorned quail egg helps to celebrate Independence Day.

In this week’s What’s New Wednesday, we honor Independence Day with a decorative egg. From Marcella Wagner Bowersox, this egg decoration features the American flag. The quail egg itself measures just over 1 inch. Mrs. Bowersox decorated the egg. In fact, she was known as the “Egg Lady.” She and her first husband, Frank Wagner, ran “Wagner’s Duck, Goose and Gamebird Hatchery” in Sioux Falls. The hatchery supplied chicken, turkey, pheasant, quail, mallard and peahen eggs from 1945 to 1972, with a capacity of 90,000 eggs. Bowersox was known for her love of decorating eggs, even importing ostrich eggs to create excellent eggs.
