During WWII, the home front mobilized in many ways. More canning and preserving of food was seen as a noble act to ensure the victory of the Allies, as it allowed more processed foods to be sent to the troops. This week’s Throwback Thursday celebrates this movement. From 1943, a lunch lady is seen in the cellar full of canned and root vegetables looking for something for the Volga School’s lunch.
