In the 1930s, sheep shearers moved away from hand powered “blade” shearers to clippers powered by gas motors. Clippers were quicker than blades, cut a more even fleece (pictured here on the ground next to the sheep) and caused less strain on the hands. Pictured here is a student with a freshly sheared sheep during a shearing class at the stock pavilion at Ƶ. The stock pavilion is currently the home of our museum and this picture is taken outside the current staff entrance.
