Sidney S. Clark, DVS, was born in 1859, Freehold, New Jersey. When he was 24, he moved to South Dakota with his parents and farmed near Canistota. He married Edna Hayes in 1888, and the 1900 U.S. Census indicates that he was farming in Spring Valley Township, McCook County. In 1904 at age 45 he entered Kansas City Veterinary College. After graduating he built a large practice in McCook County and served the surrounding counties. He served as a veterinarian for about 35 years. The identity of the man in the foreground, holding the two horses is unknown, but in the background, the building window identifies the location as “S.S. Clark, DSV, Veterinarian”.
