West Elevator in Albee was operated by J. C. Cahill. It was operated by horsepower. This elevator had a 10,000-bushel capacity. J. C. Cahill came to Grant County in 1889 where he was engaged in teaching until 1896 when he was accepted a position as a grain buyer for Northwestern Elevator Company. He was made manager of the elevator in Albee and held the position until 1904. Cahill also owned a feed mill and a wood yard. This photo was taken ca. 1900-1915. (2008:007:0018)
