GENERAL GUIDELINES

The Clinical Pathology Laboratory performs a variety of tests on clinical specimens such as whole blood, serum, various body fluids and fecal and urine samples. Blood cell counts, serum chemistry panels and parasitology exams of fecal samples are the most commonly requested tests by veterinarians from across the region. Most tests have a one-day turnaround time, and test results can be accessed through the secure diagnostic laboratory information system 24 hours a day. The laboratory can also send samples to larger reference laboratories for specialized testing requests as needed.

The Vet Axcel chemistry analyzer from Alfa Wassermann allows us to provide faster and more accurate test results. It can process up to 15 patient samples at once and 285 tests per hour, and has a “stat” feature so we can add a critical patient sample at any time. We offer both full chemistry profiles and smaller custom profiles for both large and small animals based on client needs.

The Clinical Pathology Laboratory is continually looking for ways to offer practitioners and diagnosticians more testing options.
