The Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department offers:
The M.S. degree provides an introduction to the theoretical foundations of electrical engineering as well as study in state-of-the-art technologies. The Ph.D. degree is designed to help address the global need for research and education in new sustainable energy technologies. Graduate research opportunities are available in photovoltaics utilizing novel nanotechnologies, materials and structures to convert light energy into electricity, power electronics, microgrids and power systems.
Areas of Study
Our faculty embodies a broad range of electrical engineering interests and has built dynamic and innovative research centers and groups around several areas of specialization. These include:
- Micro and nano electronics and nanotechnology with emphasis on the design fabrication, and characterization of nanoscale photovoltaic devices.
- Radiometric calibration of satellite-based instrumentation and digital processing of satellite imagery.
- Distributed generation, especially grid-connected renewable energy supplies and microgrids.
- Power electronics for renewable energy systems.
Assistantships and fellowships are available.
Research Labs
Applied research is at the head of the ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ electrical engineering program. These activities which involve both undergraduate and graduate electrical engineering students are conducted with the resources of our state-of-the-art laboratories.
