June is National Dairy Month. Celebrate by indulging in your favorite dairy treat. This photograph was taken in 1962 for the June is Dairy Month promotion. Janet Anderson, the 1962 Dairy Princess, is serving cartons of milk to David Fitzgerald and South Dakota State College baseball player Doug Peterson.

Charles is just 10 years old in this photo and is on top his dad’s 1936 CC Case tractor which he bought new for $1,050. This tractor brought so much attention at the time that the local school dismissed early so that all the kids could come and admire such a wondrous machine.

What a strange sight to see a submarine crossing the prairies! This is an HA. 19, a Type A Ko-hyoteki-class midget submarine touring through Watertown on a World War II War Bond drive. 
The submarine had made its way to the entrance of Pearl Harbor during the main attack but was became grounded on a reef. It was discovered by the USS Helm and fired on the sub dislodging it from the reef.
