General engineering is a non-degree program that provides service courses for majors throughout the Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering. General engineering courses include engineering design graphics, computer aided drawing, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, technology society and ethics, project management and applied mechanics. These courses provide core knowledge for our engineering and applied technical management students to build upon as they progress in their program of study.
General engineering also provides a temporary major for new students who want to be in engineering but have not yet decided which specific field of engineering to pursue. General engineering allows students to be part of the College of Engineering while exploring their options and taking some of the common courses required in many of the majors. Most general engineering students will have decided upon a major by the end of their freshman year.
