A record first-year class and record retention moved enrollment at South Dakota State University to 12,065 students for the fall 2024 semester, the highest enrollment at ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ since 2018. Enrollment figures were released earlier today by the South Dakota Board of Regents.

A new, future-focused engineering program — and the first in the nation at the undergraduate level — is being added to the Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering following South Dakota Board of Regents approval in December. South Dakota State University officials are preparing to offer a Bachelor of Science in healthcare systems engineering beginning in fall 2025.

For the second consecutive year, South Dakota State University has broken its research expenditures record. Research expenditures for fiscal year 2024 reached $84 million — a 13.5% increase from last year's record of $74 million.
