Former ������Ƶ President Peggy Miller joined a group of nine other people to be inducted into the South Dakota Hall of Fame at ceremonies in Chamberlain Sept. 13-14. Miller, who served as ������Ƶ’s 18th president from Jan. 1, 1998, to Dec. 31, 2006, became only the third out of the land-grant university’s 20 presidents to be inducted into the South Dakota Hall of Fame, joining Robert Wagner (1998) and Hilton Briggs (1980).

The fall semester at South Dakota State University brings three things without fail: the return of Jackrabbits to Brookings, opportunities for campus and community connections, and the celebration of One Day for STATE. Whether launching the “Dakota Farm Talk” radio program from the Geppert family farm 30 years before the term “remote work” was commonplace, fundraising for the South Dakota State Fair’s Nordby Exhibit Hall or helping start the Kimball FFA chapter — Pam (Walter) Geppert works hard to support South Dakota agriculture.

Advice Brad Greenway received from his college adviser 40 years ago guides him to this day. “He told me, ‘Don’t ever start something you are figuring on failing at,’” recalled the third-generation Mitchell farmer.

The Brookings Chamber Music Society has announced its 2024-25 season and fall membership drive. Allied closely to the South Dakota State University School of Performing Arts, the society’s mission is to present the finest in chamber music for the enjoyment of the Brookings community.
