The Thompson Center, South Dakota’s most comprehensive counseling education center, and its supporters were celebrated at a grand opening event on the South Dakota State University campus Oct. 11.

Bibek Adhikari, a graduate teaching assistant in biology and microbiology, received the 2024 John E. Miller Research Award from the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at South Dakota State University.

South Dakota State University President Barry Dunn bestowed ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ Presidential Medallions upon four individuals, including one posthumously, Sept. 7 for their contributions to the university.

South Dakota State University recently paid tribute to the university’s newest endowment holders. The third annual University Leadership Honors investiture ceremony — honoring six holders of endowed positions across three different colleges and ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ Athletics — was held Sept. 19 in Founders Recital Hall in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

Faculty and recent graduates from the South Dakota State University College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions published six manuscripts over the summer months.

A record first-year class and record retention moved enrollment at South Dakota State University to 12,065 students for the fall 2024 semester, the highest enrollment at ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ since 2018. Enrollment figures were released earlier today by the South Dakota Board of Regents.

Marina Hendricks, assistant professor and graduate program coordinator for the online Master of Mass Communication in South Dakota State University’s School of Communication and Journalism, has been recognized as the David Adams Scholastic Journalism Division Educator of the Year.

Laura Diddle, the Paul E. and Doris J. Moriarty Endowed Professor of Choral Activities in the South Dakota State University School of Performing Arts, has received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the South Dakota American Choral Directors Association. Shawn Stemsrud, a 2022 ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ graduate, received the association's Encore Award, as did 2002 ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ alum Janice Gilbert.

The South Dakota Art Museum at South Dakota State University has again achieved accreditation by the American Alliance of Museums, the highest national recognition afforded to the nation’s museums.

Rosemarie Nold, professor and assistant head of the Department of Animal Science at South Dakota State University, has been named an American Society of Animal Science Teaching Fellow. She received the honor at July’s American Society of Animal Science annual meeting in Calgary, Alberta.
