South Dakota ADRDL necropsy staff and pathologists reserve the right to refuse euthanasia due to safety and animal welfare concerns. Large and adult animals (avian excluded) must be able to ambulate in order to provide proper restraint for sedation prior to euthanasia. Euthanasia of large or adult animals is recommended prior to delivery to the laboratory. The South Dakota ADRDL can not euthanize companion animals including but not limited to dogs, cats, horses and exotic pets.
