Yersinia pestis (Plague) Culture

Due to the zoonotic potential of yersinia pestis performing a necropsy is not recommended. Submit the whole animal to the ADRDL using proper containment. If the animal is alive special precautions must be followed during sample collection and transport to the lab. Tissue samples should be placed in a clean container and chilled (not frozen).
