
School of American and Global Studies
The School of American and Global Studies, also known as AGS, provides students with unparalleled opportunities to learn about and help solve the grand challenges of an ever-changing and interconnected world. Through faculty-led study abroad programs and several research and outreach centers housed in the School, our students gain hands-on research and job skills that will advance their future careers or graduate studies. Our graduates are Rhodes scholars, Harvard law students and U.S. Department of State interns, just to name a few examples!
In today’s global economy, the ability to speak French is an extremely valuable skill. In this program, you will learn to communicate effectively in French with courses that integrate language and culture.
A French Studies - Teaching Specialization is also offered.
In this program, you will learn to effectively speak, read and write in German, with courses in conversation, grammar, reading comprehension and culture and literature. You also have many study abroad opportunities to help you learn the German culture and language.
A German - Teaching Specialization is also offered.
History students build skills in the ability ask meaningful questions, conduct research, and explain things clearly in oral and written form. This prepares the history student for a wide variety of careers in education, law, journalism, public service, library sciences and business, as well as graduate work and other specialized training.
A History (B.A./B.S.) – Teaching Specialization is also offered.
In this program, you will learn to effectively speak, read and write in Spanish, with courses in conversation, grammar, reading comprehension, culture and literature.

The South Dakota Polling Project utilizes their expertise in political science to analyze issues that are important to South Dakotans from an objective, scientific and non-partisan perspective.

The ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ Public Humanities Initiative connects scholars and local communities around projects and topics that reflect our heritage, traditions and histories and are essential to the current conditions of shared civic and cultural life.
