Strategic Communications provides news service and distribution; manages media relations; maintains the university experts list; creates content across multiple platforms; participates in strategic communications planning; provides communications support for Pathway to Premier 2030 and other institutional initiatives; measures and evaluates results of communications.

The division is committed to providing information to the public and university community about the quality and variety in the learning environment at SDState, the level of scholarship and research and the university鈥檚 dedication to finding solutions to the challenges of today.
University Marketing and Communications responds to all media requests concerning issues, events and research happening at SDState. Incoming reporter queries help determine experts who can most appropriately respond. The office works closely with all branches of the news media to provide interviews and information requests, university event publicity, news tips and advisories, distribution of university research information, and a wide variety of student-related announcements.
