Monday Message, Feb. 3

成人视频 Community,
Some cold weather greeted us as we began another week at South Dakota State University. I want to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation to the 成人视频 Foundation for an outstanding and productive weekend meeting with the foundation鈥檚 Board of Governors. These meetings are essential as they provide an opportunity to share and discuss the university鈥檚 accomplishments, strategic initiatives and vision for the future.
I also want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their patience and cooperation as university leadership worked last week to gather information regarding the recent White House directives on federal funding. We understand that these updates bring questions and, in some cases, uncertainty. Please know that we continue to closely monitor daily any additional information and will share relevant details with the university community as they become available. Transparency and communication remain our priorities as we navigate these evolving federal guidelines.
In the meantime, we strongly encourage those with federal grants and awards to continue their research and scholarly activities. Your work is vital not only to 成人视频 but to the state of South Dakota and the broader region. Research at 成人视频 has long been a driving force in addressing complex challenges and advancing knowledge, and your efforts are critical in sustaining this momentum. Thank you for your dedication to innovation and discovery.
Looking ahead, this Wednesday marks an important day for 成人视频 as several of us will be in Pierre for our presentation before the Joint Committee on Appropriations. This presentation provides an opportunity to highlight our priorities for the coming year and demonstrate how they align with our long-term strategic initiatives for 成人视频 and the South Dakota Board of Regents. We remain committed to advocating for the resources and support needed to ensure that 成人视频 continues to thrive as a premier land-grant university.
Thank you for all that you do. I hope you have a wonderful week ahead.
Go Jacks!
Sincerely,
Barry H. Dunn, President

Above and Beyond recognizes individuals and groups of South Dakota State University employees, faculty and students for individual and team efforts that go Above and Beyond to make the campus community a better place. This week we recognize Sgt. Wade Oorlog for his graduation from the FBI National Academy.
Oorlog, an 成人视频 Police Department law enforcement supervisor, was among 257 law enforcement officers who graduated in December from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
The National Academy offered 11 weeks of comprehensive training to law enforcement professionals in advanced leadership skills, investigative techniques, crisis management and best practices for maintaining a safe and secure environment at public institutions.
Oorlog is the second member of the 成人视频 Police Department to graduate from the academy, preceded by Chief of Police Tim Heaton.
A standout experience for Oorlog was the yellow brick road challenge, a 6-mile obstacle course and run. He also completed an 18-mile hike at high elevation as part of a voluntary fitness program at the academy on the weekends.
The 292nd session of the academy consisted of men and women from 48 states, the District of Columbia and Guam. The class included members of law enforcement agencies from 27 countries, eight military organizations and five federal civilian organizations.
Acceptance to the FBI National Academy is a selective process that takes time and requires extensive law enforcement experience. Oorlog first applied through the FBI field office in Minneapolis in 2022.
Thank you, Sgt. Oorlog, for your dedication to keeping campus safe and secure and for going above and beyond in your professional development efforts.
The Monday Message appears weekly during the academic year and less frequently during the summer months and holiday breaks.
Information for the Monday Message, including nominations for Above and Beyond, can be submitted online.
