There are several opportunities for students to become involved in research projects within the Department of Health and Nutritional Sciences.
If you are interested in gaining research experience, we encourage you to go to the Our People page and look at the research individual faculty are conducting. Contact those faculty whose research projects are interesting to you to discuss with them the possibility of participating in data collection and analysis for their projects. You can also discuss with the faculty the possibility of a research internship. The purpose of the internship is to provide an environment for students to develop research and laboratory skills that will assist them in future careers or graduate school. Internships can be set up with individual faculty to assist with research projects.
also provides many opportunities for students to get involved in research. Students can serve as graduate assistants or undergraduate student researchers working with nutrition and physical activity programs provided by the Family Nutrition Program or other collaborative grants. Some of the current projects include curriculum development and research for Farm 2 School Programs, Mental Health First Aid, Strengthening the Heartland, Community Vitality, and Better Choices, Better Health programs.
