The University Archives Collection contains official and unofficial material from all aspects of the university, including publications and records from campus departments, historic material documenting the early days of 成人视频, historic records of campus organizations.
成人视频 Archives strives to collect and maintain records having permanent historical value to South Dakota State University, including administrative records, departmental and student group records, faculty papers, publications, Agricultural Experiment and Cooperative Extension materials and materials from individuals and organizations associated with the university.
Preservation copies of all material published by any department or area of the university are also retained. These materials include, but are not limited to, catalogs, brochures, flyers, informational bulletins, promotional materials, programs and other material printed by organizations related to or a part of the university.

Academic Affairs Records (UA 2)
Academic Affairs deals with all aspects of academic affairs, including curriculum, faculty development, scholarship requirements, advising, honorary degrees and dishonesty appeal. This collection is composed of general office files, institutional program reviews, department standards, subject files, committee files, curriculum requests and files dealing with the arrangement of commencement exercises.
Academic Evaluation and Assessment Office Records (UA 21)
The Academic Evaluation and Assessment office coordinates several areas of assessment and provides various testing services to the university students and community. The collection is composed of reports produced by the Academic Evaluation and Assessment Office as a result of educational tests and measurements made by the office. Also included is material related to academic proficiency of students, entering student profiles and placement examinations.
Academic Senate - SEE: Faculty Senate and Related Committees Records (UA 4)
University Committees are empowered to conduct serious, thoughtful analyses of the issues appropriate to that Committee and to make recommendations to the Faculty Senate and administration. This collection is composed of material related to Administrative Committees, the Academic Senate, the Committee on Committees and other university related Boards and committees, such as the South Dakota Board of Regents and the Hobo Day Committee.
Academic Women's Equity Coalition Collection (UA 50.10)
The Academic Women's Equity Coalition worked to identify, investigate and seek solutions related to issues of equity at South Dakota State University, provided opportunity for the exchange of information and ideas related to academic women's issues, and served as support and action group for faculty women. This collection is composed of clippings, membership and committee lists, correspondence, meeting agenda, programs, finances and a brief history of the coalition.

Administrative Council Records (UA 50.6)
The Administrative Council discussed questions of administration or policy brought forth by the president, or to discuss any other questions brought up the any council member. The collection consists of minutes of the meetings and some correspondence of both the Administrative Council and its predecessor, the Council of Deans.

Aldrich, J.M. Diaries (UA 53.14)
J.M. Aldrich was a student at Dakota Agricultural College who was employed as an assistant in entomology at the college after graduation. He went on to become a dipterist for the Smithsonian Institution. This collection consists of three diaries of J. M. Aldrich during his tenure as a student at Dakota Agricultural College from 1885-1888.
Alexander, Ruth Ann Papers (UA 53.22)
Ruth Ann Alexander was professor and head of the English Department. This collection is composed of files related to her writing and speeches, records related to her term on the Brookings School Board, Chautauqua and with her term as head of the English Department. Also included is material related to various other activities in which Alexander was involved.
Alumni Association Records (UA 17.0)

The American Indian Student Association provides an outlet for Indigenous people on campus to share and learn about their own culture, heritage and values. It is composed mainly of materials pertaining to the Native American Club鈥檚 activities on campus, including the South Dakota State University Wacipi (powwow).

The American Indian and Indigenous studies program focuses on the past and present understanding of Indigenous people with an emphasis on making a better future for Indigenous people. This collection is composed mainly of material pertaining to the American Indian History Conference and Consider the Century program.

The 125th Anniversary Planning Committee was formed to guide the university through the celebration of its 125th anniversary. This collection is composed of materials produced and collection by the 125th Anniversary Planning Committee. Apparel Merchandising and Interior Design, Department of Records (UA 9.2)
The Department of Apparel Merchandising and Interior Design provides knowledge applicable to careers in the fashion industry including production, wholesaling and retailing and for consumer acquisition and use of apparel and household textiles. The collection is composed of general departmental records which consist of material such as program evaluation reports, posters, programs, and course announcements; and the Adaline Snellman Hsia Historic Costume and Decorative Arts Collection records, which consists mainly of correspondence, clippings and photographs.
Army Administration Schools, Enlisted Branch No. 3 Collection (UA 50.9)
The Army Administration Schools trained clerks for general army administration duty in the Air Corps. This collection is composed of a history, report of a survey and a scrapbook related to the Army Administration School on the campus of South Dakota State College during World War II. Also included is a small amount of material related to the Army Specialized Training Program.

The College of Arts and Sciences offers programs in the arts, humanities, social and behavioral sciences, and natural sciences. This collection is composed of correspondence, publications and various records generated by the Office of the Dean of College of Arts and Sciences. Athenian Literary Society Records (UA 35.1)
The Athenian Literary Society developed its members in oratory, debate, and extemporaneous speaking and to promote social activities. This collection is composed of the constitution and by-laws for the society as well as programs for graduation exercises and plays presented by the society.
Athletics, Jackrabbit Records (UA 46.0)
South Dakota State University has been active in intercollegiate athletics since the 1920s. The university participated in the Division II North Central conference until the start of the 2008-2009 academic year when the university became an active member of NCAA Division I. This collection is composed of material related to athletics at South Dakota State University. Included are files regarding administration, the Athletics Committee, publications, the Women鈥檚 Recreation Association and files related to specific sports (e.g. baseball, men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 basketball, cross country, football, rodeo, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field, volleyball and wrestling).

Allen Barnes was Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences from 1967-1985. This collection consists of material related to the Centennial celebration of South Dakota State University, Barnes鈥 term as dean of arts and sciences, and his work on getting a Performing Arts Center established on campus.
Berg, Sherwood O. Papers (UA 53.13)
Sherwood Berg was president of 成人视频 from 1975-1984. This collection consists of material related to the National Advisory Commission on Food and Fiber established by President Lyndon B. Johnson on Nov. 4, 1965 on which Sherwood O. Berg served as chairperson.
Billow, Joye Ann Papers (UA 53.25)J
Joye Ann Billow was a professor of pharmaceutical sciences and licensed pharmacist throughout her career. She joined the South Dakota State University College of Pharmacy faculty in 1972 and served for 30 years until her retirement in 2002. She was faculty advisor to the 成人视频 Chi chapter of the Kappa Epsilon Fraternity for women pharmacy students. The collection is primarily composed of collected photographs, Billow鈥檚 awards and writings and her family鈥檚 genealogical documents.

Boarding Club Ledgers (UA 52.6)
The Boarding Club managed student resident housing and dining. The collection is composed of ledgers for the Boarding Club. Included are records for expenses, board, labor and refunds for students who were members of the club.
Hilton M. Briggs was president at South Dakota State University from 1958 to 1975. The collection is composed of material related to his retirement, recognition, and his life after retirement. Included are biographical materials, clippings, correspondence, writings, photographs and scrapbooks.
Brookings Veterans Society Records (UA 35.2)
The Brookings Veterans Society consisted of discharged and separated personnel of the United States Armed Forces that were registered as students at South Dakota State University. This collection is composed of correspondence, accounting reports, constitution and by-laws, forms, membership and project data and newsletters.
Brown, George Lincoln (UA 53.59)
George L. Brown was born on January 25, 1869. He attended a preparatory school at the University of Missouri. Where he also received both his B.S. and M.S. degrees at the university of Missouri. He started at South Dakota State in 1897 as a mathematics professor. He eventually became a dean, vice president and president during his tenure. He received his president emeritus in 1944.

Burns, Robert V. Papers (UA 53.19)
Bob Burns was a professor of political science and director of the Honors College. The Career Center provides services that assists students with planning for careers. This collection is composed mainly of newsletters and flyers for job fairs, practice interview sessions and etiquette dinners. Also included is a file dealing with tutoring programs.
Matt Cecil was a media historian and associate professor of journalism and mass communication. This collection is composed of Cecil's research of the relationships of journalists and J. Edgar Hoover鈥檚 FBI from 1928 to 1972.
Centennial Steering Committee Records (UA 51.1)
The Centennial Steering Committee was formed on July 16, 1979, to guide the university through the celebration of its Centennial year (1981). This collection is composed of committee files produced for or in conjunction with the Centennial Celebration of South Dakota State University held in 1981.
Chemistry and Biochemistry, Department of Records (UA 6.5)
The mission of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is to provide a rigorous, student-centered, practical education offering multiple and varied opportunities to explore traditional and nontraditional career options that are open to our chemistry majors. Civil and Environmental Engineering, Department of Records (UA 8.1)
Civil engineering includes the location, design, construction and the operation and maintenance of highways, airports, buildings, bridges, dams, water supply and distribution systems, waste water collection systems and treatment plants, irrigation and drainage systems, river and harbor improvements and many other infrastructure facilities essential in modern life. The collection is composed mainly of material for a course in solid waste engineering and management. Also included are brochures, fact sheets and other material related to the department.
College on the Hill Research and Manuscript Collection (UA 17.1)
"The College on the Hill" is an anecdotal history of South Dakota State University from 1881 to 2003 co-written by Amy Dunkle and V.J. Smith, Alumni Association director. This collection is composed of manuscript materials and research gathered for the writing of the book for the book "College on the Hill."
Commerce Department Records (UA 6.15)
The Commerce Department included secretarial courses, and commercial or business courses. The collection is composed of a pamphlet and an offprint from the college catalogue.
Communication Studies and Theater, Department of Records (UA 6.1)
The Department of Communication Studies and Theater offers majors in theater or speech communication with an optional emphasis in speech. Also included is a petition, signed by many students of Dakota Agricultural College requesting that the English/History professor be removed from his post.
DeLong, H.H. Collection (UA 53.82)
H.H. Delong gained worldwide recognition for his classification of rammed earth; a procedure originally designed for affordable poultry coups. This collection is composed of publications related to rammed earth structures and some biographical material.

Jim Dornbush was a member of the civil engineering faculty. He did extensive research and consultation in water pollution control and sanitary engineering. This collection is composed of reports on experiments conducted at the Big Stone Power Plant, collected material, files related to his consulting work with Dorand Engineering Services, personal material consisting of correspondence, class lectures, research, community involvement and publications.

Eastern South Dakota Science and Engineering Fair Collection (UA 50.14)
The Eastern South Dakota Science and Engineering Fair allows students to showcase projects that exhibit not only scientific, but creative, ideas. This collection consists of information and materials of the Eastern South Dakota Science and Engineering Fair, such as programs, brochures, budgets, correspondence, participant information, awards, news stories, photographs and a scrapbook; as well as information and materials of the International Science and Engineering Fair, such as rule books, books of research abstracts and participant information.

The Fenn Inner-City Scholarship offered students an opportunity to learn about other ways of life by spending six weeks living and working in inner city Denver. The Financial Aid Office administers student financial assistance programs, including federal and state financial aid, scholarships and governmental agency awards. Norman Gambill was a scholar in art history and film studies, he was head of the Visual Arts Department for 26 years retiring in 2010. Gamma Sigma Delta, also known as the Honor Society of Agriculture, is a professional agricultural fraternity. The South Dakota State University chapter of the society was established on May 27, 1958. The collection includes the society's constitutions, programs, yearly records of activities and financial records.

Geography Club (Gamma Theta Upsilon) Records (UA 35.4)
The Geography Club furthers professional interest in geography, strengthens academic training and encourages student research. The collection is composed of programs, news releases, and commemorative books for the annual South Dakota State Geography Convention. Hobo Day Collection {UA 62) Preserving Historic Hobo Day
Hobo Day is the homecoming celebration for South Dakota State University and includes a parade through campus, Downtown Brookings, a Jackrabbits football game, and many unique traditions. The first Hobo Day occurred on Nov. 2, 1912. Homecoming thrives at South Dakota State University and is the largest one-day event in the state. The return of alumni to their alma mater for a weekend of football, fun, and memories has flourished and grown over the decades, embodying the essence of Jackrabbit Pride.
This collection is an artificial collection composed of collected materials, publications, and ephemera related to Hobo Day. Material is added as it is unearthed. It consists of clippings, correspondence, news releases, buttons, bumper stickers, hats, posters, a t-shirt and photographs.

The Home Management programs taught students management of household operations and child care. The collection is composed of photographs and miscellaneous material about the Home Management program at South Dakota State College. James K. 鈥淭ex鈥 Lewis was a professor of animal and range sciences at South Dakota State University from 1950 to 1985. The collection comprises his work in teaching and research in range management and range livestock nutrition. It includes studies and projects conducted primarily at the Cottonwood Range Field Station, Antelope Range Field Station and the Badlands region of South Dakota. Five members of the South Dakota State University (成人视频) Men鈥檚 Basketball Team participated in a trip to Cuba in 1977 as part of a South Dakota delegation led by Sens. George McGovern and James Abourezk. This collection comprises material related to the 1977 trip to Cuba, including photographs, slides, newspaper clippings and programs. Also part of the collection are letters and other documents that detail the effort that went into making such an endeavor happen. David Martin, former sports information director at South Dakota State University, created and compiled these material.

David F. Pearson began his career as a professor of economics at South Dakota State College in 1957. In 1959, President Briggs appointed him special assistant to the president. Pearson while serving as vice president for administration and consists mainly of correspondence and files dealing with the F. O. Butler Foundation, the engineering controversy of the early 1970s, and material dealing with the celebration of the United States Bicentennial celebration on the campus of South Dakota State University.

South Dakota Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (SDAIAW) Records (UA 46.2)
The SDIAWA was formed in 1971 to coordinate athletic activities for women in colleges and universities in South Dakota. It was a subunit of the national Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW), and belonged to Region VI of that organization. The SDAIAW dissolved on June 15, 1982. The collection contains correspondence, meeting minutes, reports, competition results, and governance documents for the South Dakota Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (SDAIAW).

The Eminent Farmer and Homemaker program began in 1927 by South Dakota State College, now South Dakota State University. The South Dakota EPSCoR program is designed to assist states in establishing a self-sustaining academic research enterprise with the competitive capability that will contribute to the states' economic viability and development. Joseph and Signe Stuart worked and taught in Brookings for several decades. Harry Svec was born on Dec. 26, 1916, in Nebraska. He graduated from the school of agriculture in 1936. He started as an assistant professor at 成人视频 in 1940. Where he taught welding and forging classes, and he retired from 成人视频 in 1982. He received the Emeritus of Engineering shops upon his retirement. Harry Passed away May 17, 1999.

Trump, Alfred G., Jr. Papers (UA 53.39)
Alfred G. Trump, Jr (1907-1994) was the head librarian at South Dakota State College in 1948 and was named director of its libraries in 1959. He held this position until his retirement in 1972. He continued as its archivist emeritus until 1977 and was also instrumental in the logistical challenges of its move of from Lincoln Library to the Hilton M. Briggs Library in 1977. The papers consist mostly of materials related to Trump鈥檚 retirement from the South Dakota State University Library, including scrapbooks and programs. Other items in the collection include certificates and plaques.

The Veterans Advising office was set up following World War II to assist the veterans in making the transition to college, as well as assist them with paperwork and monetary support.
