Marvin and Marilyn Steinback of Brookings County donated a Wiard X130 hillside wood beam reversible walking plow to the South Dakota Agricultural Heritage Museum.

Steinbacks donate plow to S.D. Ag Museum

The South Dakota Agricultural Heritage Museum received the donation of a Wiard X130 hillside wood beam reversible walking plow from Marvin and Marilyn Steinback of Brookings County on Sept. 26. The Wiard Plow Co. patented the X130 plow on July 14, 1896. The plow is designed to easily change the direction of the moldboard. It also has a removable front plow share, allowing the farmer to replace it when it becomes dull.

Three ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ attractions earn ‘Great Places’ designation for 2022

Three attractions on the South Dakota State University campus have made the cut in the South Dakota Department of Tourism’s listing of 2022 South Dakota Great Places. Among this year’s designees recognized for outstanding hospitality and customer service are McCrory Gardens, the South Dakota Agricultural Heritage Museum and the South Dakota Art Museum.

Harvey Dunn prairie paintings exhibit on display

Many of Harvey Dunn’s most iconic paintings are on display in Harvey Dunn: Fences, Cows, Plows and Oxen at South Dakota Art Museum through Aug. 11. This exhibition, drawn from the museum’s extensive collection of Harvey Dunn paintings, celebrates the hard-working agricultural backbone of the state of South Dakota.
