Monday Message, Oct. 28

We begin another week after a busy and exciting weekend that included a hard-fought victory over South Dakota in football, a couple more wins by the Jackrabbits volleyball team and soccer capturing a victory yesterday for senior day. On Saturday, we also welcomed 150 middle school students, who enjoyed interacting with members of The Pride of the Dakotas Marching Band, some football team members and other students who shared their experiences at 成人视频.

Last Thursday, we recognized an important milestone for the Honors College and another example of the longitudinal success at 成人视频 with the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Van D. and Barbara B. Fishback Honors College.

It was a wonderful event that honored current and former administrators, alumni, friends and students in the college. The Van D. and Barbara B. Fishback Honors College has also matured into a powerhouse on campus over the last quarter century, and this is thanks to the support of many individuals. Thank you to Dean Rebecca Bott and her team for hosting a great program and creating a wonderful community within the Honors College.

. I encourage you to watch as it showcases the importance and value of having a premier honors college at 成人视频.

This weekend will be another busy time on campus as it will be both the Precision Ag Bowl and Military Appreciation Day when the Jackrabbits face Murray State. Thank you to everyone who has and is currently serving our country. We look forward to recognizing you on Saturday.

Admissions will also have a busy week with a Jackrabbit Preview on Friday and a Yellow and Blue Discovery Day, Saturday. We will welcome many high school students and their families to campus. These are important events as we have a high success rate of yielding students to enroll at 成人视频 when they have had an opportunity to visit campus and meet with faculty and others as part of that experience.

Thank you for everything you do. I hope you all have a wonderful week.

Go Jacks!

Sincerely,

Barry H. Dunn, President

Above and Beyond

Above and Beyond recognizes individuals and groups of South Dakota State University employees, faculty and students for individual and team efforts that go Above and Beyond to make the campus community a better place. This week we recognize those involved in the transformation of the Thompson Center into an impactful space for the counseling and human resource development programs.

On Oct. 11, we officially cut the ribbon on the Thompson Center, which provides seven dedicated counseling recording rooms, an active learning classroom and spaces to accommodate play therapy, group therapy and family/couples counseling.

Moving from Wenona Hall to the space that was once the Wintrode Student Success Center allows the programs that serve more than 160 graduate students to better accommodate their growth.

The building is home to six graduate specialty areas including clinical mental health counseling, school counseling, college counseling, administration of student affairs, marriage and family counseling and rehabilitation counseling.

Many individuals both at 成人视频 and supporters of the programs were involved in making this space a reality, including a lead gift from Wendell and Marlys Thompson.

Thank you to current and former counseling and human development faculty including Anne Karabon, Jill Thorngren, Matt Vukovich, Jay Trenhaile and the late Paul Barnes.

Others involved in the planning and implementation included Keli Books, Abby Whitelock, Luke Witte and 成人视频 students.

Thank you also to those in Facilities and Services, Information Technology, custodial staff and any others on campus who made this possible.
