The Wintrode Student Success and Opportunity Center is a hub for everything related to student success at ��Ƶ. The Opportunity Center embraces ��Ƶ’s land-grant mission by supporting educational access for all students.

First Year Advising Center

The First-Year Advising Center (FYAC) is designed to help students transition to college and build a firm academic foundation. Academic advisors in the FYAC work with most incoming first-year students and all students who have not declared a major.

Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction Program

��Ƶ students can receive free tutoring in select courses through scheduled appointments or walk-in sessions. We also offer free Supplemental Instruction (SI) for a wide range of courses. Tutoring and SI are provided for all students who want to improve their understanding of course material, improve their grades and increase their self-confidence about course material.

TRIO Programs

��Ƶ offers two TRIO programs that support first generation and income eligible students in college access, preparation and success. Both programs provide proactive support systems that increase the probability of student success and graduation from college.

Academic Success and Recovery Program

The Academic Success and Recovery Program supports students who are currently on probation or have been readmitted to South Dakota State University following suspension. We believe that all students deserve the opportunity to succeed, and we are committed to helping you achieve your potential.

Summer Bridge

Summer Bridge partners with South Dakota State University’s early orientation programs. Students participating in an early orientation program move in early and engage in a variety of activities that ease their transition to college.

The Wintrodes

Students with outstanding academic records have many friends who want to reward their success. When it came to assisting students, however, Virgil and Josephine Wintrode always preferred to put their money on the student who needed just a little encouragement. The Wintrode Student Success and Opportunity Center is funded by the Wintrode Endowment through the ��Ƶ Foundation.
